Finding Your Niche

When you first start a business, there is such lack of direction at times that it feels as though you need to say yes to every opportunity that comes your way, just to figure out what sticks. But what happens when you’ve gotten to the point of understanding what your strengths are along with your weaknesses? That’s where you begin to level out and focus on what you do best. That’s where you go from a beginner, to an expert in a very specific area. That’s the hardest thing that almost every entrepreneur must face at some point of another.

When I first decided to quit my job and work for myself, I dove into one of the easiest spaces that I possibly could have at the time because of my age and natural understanding of social media. I began consulting for small businesses looking to “boost their online presence”. However, as time went on and the space became saturated by almost every person looking to start making extra money, the time came for me to niche down and become an expert at one specific thing. I found myself interested in not just sending more¬†traffic to a website, but rather sending traffic through an entire sales funnel where you have the opportunity to begin a long-lasting relationship with a potential customer or client. I went from creating and posting content for my clients, to building out sales funnels and measuring the results of them while making tweaks and revisions that increase engagement and conversion rates. This is what I find far more fascinating than designing great looking content, so this is what I’ve chosen to stick with. Both have their place in the digital marketing world and there is definitely a need for both, I just went after the option that suited me best. I went from being the social media guy to the expert online marketer because I took this leap and immersed myself in a very specific area.

You’ll find that by doing this, it brings better opportunities along with it. By better, I mean opportunities that you enjoy more. It’s much easier for people to understand what you do when you niche down like this. When people have a good understanding for what you are focusing on, you’re the first person that comes to mind when they need your services.

I hope you were able to find some value in this post. Maybe it made you think about how you can possibly niche down and become an expert in a very specific area.

Thanks so much for reading.

Always,

Isaac
